Twin River Outfitters guides trips from April through October in Southwest Montana, where we are fortunate to have unique and abundant access to world-class fly fishing throughout the season. It is our passion, and we’re fortunate to get out on the water and share this lifestyle with you.

The early season kicks off on the Lower Madison in April. Cooler water temperatures keep the fish happy, while the river’s abundant food and habitat support large populations of insects and fish, mainly the browns and rainbows we love dearly. The Lower Madison holds its own, and often provides some of the best spring fishing. Getting out in April and May offers solitude and a unique experience.

May on the Missouri brings abundant Blue-Winged Olive (BWO) and PMD hatches, providing trout with a steady and reliable food source. As the season progresses, trout actively feed on the abundance of available insects, making for some of the most consistent fishing of the spring.

As Montana’s summer season settles in throughout June and continues to warm through July and August, we primarily focus our guided trips on the Upper Madison River. This section of the river offers an incredible diversity of aquatic insects, creating consistent opportunities for productive trout fishing throughout the summer. Combined with its healthy trout populations and world-renowned fishing, the Upper Madison offers the perfect combination of exceptional angling and classic Montana scenery.

As summer gives way to fall from August through October, we shift our focus to the Yellowstone River. Stretching through one of Montana’s most iconic valleys, the Yellowstone delivers an experience that combines world-class trout fishing with the wild beauty that makes Montana so special.
