Yes, the state of Montana requires each fisher above the age of 12 to obtain 3 types of licenses. Please see the “Fishing in Montana” section on our “About” page for direct links to purchase your licenses.

Our services are all-inclusive, including rods, reels, flies, and lunch.

We recommend sunglasses, water shoes, a full water bottle, a hat with a brim, sunscreen, sun shirt, and a rain coat (even in the summer). Waders are recommended for fall and spring.

Twin River Outfitters guides from April through October. Each season has its unique attributes and experiences. There’s always good fishing to be had, and we adapt our experiences the get the best of each season.

Typical gratuity is $150-$200 or 20% of the cost of your experience. Tips are a large part of Guides’ income each season, and it is standard to provide a tip as there are many expenses the guides incur to provide a high quality experience both on and off the water.

Most of the waters Twin River Outfitters fish have wild brown trout, rainbow trout, native cutthroat trout, cutbows, and mountain whitefish. Depending on the river and season, location some species may be more abundant and active.

Twin River Outfitters loves hosting families and people of all ages from kids to adults. It’s so special for us to be able to provide memorable experiences for you and your family in the the mountains of Montana.

Each boat has three seats total, one for the guide and two for anglers (you!). There is always a 2:1 ratio, anglers to guides. For example, if you’re a group of 4, you will need 2 guides, which includes 2 boats and 4 seats for your group members. Please contact us with any questions about accommodating your group’s needs.

We encourage advance reservations, typically our calendars fill up for the upcoming spring and summer seasons by December. We highly recommend booking as early as possible for your group to secure your trip.

No experience is necessary. Teaching is one of our favorite parts of the job, and we’re happy to help you and your group learn to enjoy this sport we love so much.
